Sledge Hockey is an adaptive sport that incorporates the same rules and disciplines as stand-up ice hockey. Players sit in sledges that have blades underneath them, and use 2 sticks to propel themselves down the ice as well as stick handle, pass, and shoot the puck. Although Sledge Hockey was originally created for athletes with physical disabilities, it is now inclusive to and played by anyone, with or without disability.
Feb 7, 8, 15, 16 – 1pm-5pm
The sledges are available at these times for people to try out.
Family Day from 11am – 1pm
The PSA Blades from Edmonton take on Team Jigger from Red Deer in an exciting exhibition game. Sledge hockey is an adapted version of ice hockey using a sledge and two sticks. The game follows many of the same rules as traditional hockey and delivers the same speed, teamwork, and competitive spirit. Come out and support junior sledge hockey in your community!
