Ice Climbing at Edmonton Ski Club

Edmonton’s first & only ice climbing facility, operated in the beautiful river valley with downtown in sight: NOW OPEN! Ice climbing gear (boots, crampons, ice tools, harness and helmet) rentals will be available on site soon. Bookings for time slots on the Ice Wall are available NOW to all ACC members and the public.

Segway Tour

The Beginner Segway® PT Adventure starts with in-depth training, from one of our certified Segway® PT trainers. They will go over the skills and drills for everything you will need to know before heading out on your adventure.

Visit Elk Island National Park

Just 35 minutes east of Edmonton lies a natural wonderland open all year long! Spread a blanket and gaze at a starry sky free from city lights or follow the footprints of a bison and learn how this magnificent animal was brought back from near extinction. In addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, Elk Island National Park is also an oasis of calm for day picnickers and overnight campers alike.

TOBOGGANING

The City maintains toboggan hills at several locations with safe run-outs, safety signage and reduced hazards.

Tobogganing can result in serious injuries. To reduce the risk of injury:

  1. Ensure the path is clear before sliding
  2. Helmets are recommended
  3. Walk up the hill outside of the sledding area
  4. Do not dig holes, build ramps or jumps on the hill
  5. Parents/Guardian are responsible for children
  6. Always sit face-forward on your sled
  7. Tobogganing is not recommended after dark
  8. Dogs are not permitted - please leave your dogs at home
  9. Your safety is our concern, but your responsibility. Slide at your own risk.

Skate under the seasonal lights during the winter. Discover cultural monuments located throughout the grounds all year long. There is something for every visitor to see and experience on the Alberta Legislature Grounds.

Explore Edmonton’s history along the river valley

Download the FREE Edmonton Commonwealth Walkway app and explore the 10 km, paved Walkway which stretches from the 100 Street Funicular to Government House Park. Using the app, learn Edmonton history stories along your winter walk. There are five story themes: River, History, Family, Indigenous, Winter presented as text stories or audio clips.
