The Silver Skate Festival has been creating winter experiences in Edmonton’s Hawrelak Park for over 30 years!

Every February, Edmonton’s longest running winter festival provides a free family-oriented winter celebration promoting the joy of outdoor activities in Alberta through the blending of sport, recreation, arts and culture.

Attendees have beheld Hawrelak Park transformed into a mosaic of winter fun! Whether gliding along the largest skating pond in the city to the tunes of a curated playlist of local musicians, marveling at the artistic talent on display at the snow sculpture demonstrations, cheering on the athletes in the winter triathlon, or cooking bannock and learning about Indigenous oral histories and traditions in a Cree winter camp, friends and families have enjoyed activities that are as diverse as the people who call our Northern community home.
