What is a Criterium? A Criterium is the short track speed skating of the cycling world. It is a fast paced multiple lap race on a short closed course. Racers reach higher speeds head-to-head along the course.

Bring your own bike (see requirements here) or use a demo bike - available to try for free at the festival from the Mud, Sweat and Gears tent!

Festival goers can compete in one of two race categories:

Adult Beginner (13yrs+) - Mixed Genders: Age 13 years and older as of December 31, 2023: For recreational and new fat bike racers. Riders should have previous experience riding fat bikes in off road conditions. Riders will have multiple attempts to race for the fastest time.

Adult Advanced (13yrs+) - Mixed Genders: Age 13 years and older as of December 31, 2023: For experienced racers. Riders should have previous experience riding fat bikes in off road conditions. Riders will have multiple attempts to race for the fastest time.

In addition to purchasing a race registration here, participants must complete EMBFest’s race waiver prior to racing, available here: EMBFest Race Waiver

Prizing will be provided by Mud, Sweat and Gears with other potential prizing sponsors for the top three (3) racers in each category!
