Edmonton's longest running winter festival!
The mission of the Silver Skate festival is to Create Winter Experiences and our Vision is to Celebrate Winter Prairie Life. The Silver Skate Festival welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with a multitude of knowledgeable Community Programming partners to entertain our patrons by learning of prairie life in the past, celebrating our now, and building a sustainable future.
Come visit with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services! A full fire vehicle and crew will be present to interact with members of the public and answer questions about the trucks and equipment, as well as the work of firefighters and questions about river safety.
A reminder that it is never safe to walk on the ice of the River! Although the North Saskatchewan River looks desirable for hiking, skating, and cross-country skiing in the winter, its ice is unstable due to the moving water underneath.

Come visit the Frostbite! Winter Camping Symposium tent. Frostbite! is Canada's only Winter Camping Symposium, where we teach the skills needed for winter camping. Brian will be conducting small workshops and demonstrations on fire safety, safe axe use, stove safety, knife safety, and how to dress for success in the winter. If you've ever wanted to learn about winter camping, come over to the Frostbite! camp and say hello!

Our Friends at The Valley Zoo Development Society (VZDS) have brought over their Red Panda Installation for the public to enjoy at Silver Skate. This is one of many installations that you can find at their Zoominescence event in December.
The VZDS is a registered charity supporting the continued development of the beloved Edmonton Valley Zoo. Helping create a special place that inspires love & learning of animals & nature. To learn more about the VZDS and the work this organization does visit:
