Edmonton's longest running winter festival!

Battle of the Neighbourhoods

Spirits on Ice

Who will win the title of BEST Food & Brewery Neighbourhood?

Experience a unique and friendly community culinary competition between some of Edmonton’s favourite neighbourhood breweries!

This year’s food challenge is to create the perfect prairie comfort food and beer pairing. The catch? It must include as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. Staged in a heated outdoor tent at the heart of the festival in Hawrelak Park, it’s a perfect space to warm up, grab a bite to eat, and listen to live music with friends and loved ones.

The judging this year will be by People’s Choice ballots.

There will be awards for: Best Beer, Best Comfort Food, and Best Pairing.

Tickets are $35 each, and gets you a 4 fl.oz. (118mL) beer and a generous portion of food from each participating brewery. Extra beer tickets will be available for purchase! The event is open to all ages, but minors will not be served beer samples.

Buy tickets at the door.

2023 Contestants

Alley Kat Brewing

Alley Kat Brewery - Strathcona

You've never met a bunch of Kats like this. They play hard, but they work even harder. Alley Kat is a team of people passionate about beer. It’s what they have in common. They believe the best beers come from the hands of people who care about their craft, who understand the subtleties of ingredients, and who want to make each batch the best it can be.

Partnering with
Community Pizza

Community is a locally driven pizza restaurant that strives to uphold our name in as many ways as possible. We strive to support local businesses in our neighbourhood; everything from beer to butchery, we aim to represent the Community we call home. Our goal is to showcase the best of what Strathcona has to offer, and create a sense of welcome for each person that walks through our doors.

Campio Brewing Co.

Campio - Downtown

The fourth brewery in the Bearhill Brewing family, Campio Brewing Co. was established in 2018 and rounds out the ‘Albeerta’ story in Edmonton. With a beer program that ranges from the working man’s thirst quenching brews to a sour program that pushes the palate, Campio wants to stress that this is beer to be drunk without a notebook in hand.

Odd Company

Odd Company - Oliver

Odd Company are all about experimentation. Their brewers are chemists who started brewing as a hobby in the garage. Equal parts mad science and fine art, their beers deliver creative quality. Small batch brews mean something new every time you visit.

Partnering with
Culina To Go

Culina Family of Restaurants has been expertly creating contemporary renditions on classic comfort foods since 2004. With an emphasis on local suppliers, Culina continues to support our local culinary scene while drawing inspiration from around the globe.

Town Square Brewing

Town Square Brewing - Ellerslie

As they say, It's not the size that counts. Town Square Brewing  might be small but that has nothing to do with the gigantic flavors coming from their brews. They aren't afraid to step outside the box. In fact that is exactly what they aim to do. You can count on rotating taps as they take traditional recipes and put their own twists on them, bringing you something new every time you visit.

Partnering with
Woodshed Burgers

Woodshed Burgers is ALL BEEF NO BULL! On July 2, 2019 we started as a small, 50-seat restaurant, located in Edmonton’s bustling 124th street area, providing hand-smashed burgers, exclusively using Jeff Nonay’s Holstein beef; ground fresh daily, and prepared to order. Our burgers are complemented by fresh baked Bon Ton Bakery buns, locally sourced toppings, fresh-cut fries, and the finest selection of craft beers, bourbons, and more. The ingredients we choose, the care we take in preparing them, and the uniqueness of the flavour combinations we offer our guests. Our menu is small, this is intentional. We prefer quality over quantity.

Can I attend without a ticket?

Anyone can attend the Battle of the Neighbourhoods and enjoy the live musical entertainment. You will have to purchase tickets (available on our website) if you wish to sample beer and food, as well as if you wish to vote for your favourite neighbourhood.
